Lisa Yankey is the owner of Yankey Law Firm.
She represents clients with issues before United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, the National Visa Center, Department of State, Department of Justice, United States Consular Offices, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
She has extensive experience in family reunification and humanitarian immigration law, including asylum, U Visas, VAWA relief, deferred action, orders of supervision, and refugee immigration. Lisa understands that immigration can be a matter of life or death for some clients. Lisa speaks Spanish and frequently works with interpreters for other languages.
Lisa is a 2008 graduate of Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis. Before becoming an attorney, Lisa taught English as a Second Language for Indianapolis Public Schools, taught for Los Angeles Unified School District, and has been working with immigrants since 2000.
She is a member of the American Bar Association, American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and the Indiana State Bar Association and is admitted to practice before all Indiana courts. She has been a speaker on Immigration Law at The Julian Center’s Continuing Legal Education seminar in Indianapolis in 2009, 2010, and 2011; the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic’s Continuing Legal Education seminar in Indianapolis in 2012 and 2013; at the Johnson County Bar Association’s and Franklin College’s CLE on general Immigration Law, and for many community groups. She consults on the immigration consequences of criminal convictions. She has also served as a member of the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute’s Statewide Immigrant Victims Taskforce. She is active in attorney education and is the founder of LearningLawyer.
